IndiGo Airlines, the low-fare airline based in India, will launch daily, round trip flights from Lucknow to Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Kolkata and Bangalore on July 5, 2009.
The new daily round trip services will be operated between Lucknow and Bangalore (via Patna and Kolkata); between Lucknow and Mumbai (via New Delhi); between Lucknow and Kolkata (via Patna); between Lucknow and New Delhi; and between Lucknow and Patna.
The daily flights from Lucknow to Patna which, after a halt at Patna, will proceed to Kolkata.
The daily flight from Lucknow to Delhi will continue its journey to Mumbai after a stop in Delhi.
The flight form Lucknow to Delhi will leave Lucknow at 12.50 p.m; the flight from Patna will depart at 4.50 p.m; and the flight from Bangalore will be via Patna and Kolkata.
The total fare for the Lucknow-New Delhi service is Rs 1,730; for Lucknow-Patna Rs 1,730; for Lucknow-Bangalore Rs 4,229; for Lucknow-Mumbai Rs 2,230; and for Lucknow-Kolkata Rs 1,980.
Aditya Ghosh, president of IndiGo Airlines, told reporters that the number of seats available from Lucknow daily on these flights would be 360.
He said the airline had been “eyeing Lucknow for a while since the city is a key market for the company” and that IndiGo would “continue to expand its network to meet the requirements of both business travellers and leisure travellers.”
By September 2009, flight between Lucknow and Mumbai will be made direct and connectivity will be provided between Lucknow and cities such as Chennai and Hyderabad.
Ghosh added that, within 60 to 90 days, IndiGo would expand its network and provide connectivity with other cities in India – by operating 137 daily flights connecting 19 destinations.
