IndiGo Airlines to launch Patna-Bangalore, Patna-Mumbai flights on July 4, 2009

IndiGo Airlines, the privately owned low-fare airline based in India, has announced that that it is launching flights from Patna, in the state of Bihar in India, to Bangalore and Mumbai from July 4, 2009.

The new services will connect Patna with the Indian cities of Mumbai and Bangalore as well as Kolkata, Lucknow and Delhi, according to IndiGo Airlines.

The Bangalore-Patna flight will operate via Kolkata, and the Mumbai-Patna service will go via Lucknow and Delhi.

The Patna-Bangalore flight will take off from Patna at 6.20 pm and, after a stopover in Kolkata, will land in Bangalore at 10.35 p.m. On the return leg, the Bangalore-Patna flight will depart from Bangalore at 6.50 a.m. and arrive at Patna at 11.05 a.m., after a stopover in Kolkata.

The Patna-Mumbai service will leave Patna at 11.35 a.m. and, after stopovers at Lucknow and Delhi, will land at Mumbai at 4.50 p.m. In the return direction, the Mumbai-Patna flight will take off from Mumbai at 12.20 p.m. and reach Patna, via Delhi and Lucknow, at 5.50 p.m.

Aditya Ghosh, president of IndiGo Airlines, told reporters that the carrier would launch non-stop flights from Patna to Mumbai and Delhi later in 2009.
IndiGo also plans more flights from Patna and two such flights could be launched in August 2009, Ghosh said, adding that these would be non-stop flights to Delhi and Mumbai.
IndiGo Airlines at present operates services to 17 domestic destinations.

Aditya Ghosh said that IndiGo Airlines would add 3 Airbus A320 planes to the carrier’s fleet by the end of 2009 – thus taking the total fleet strength to 24.
The Airbus-320 jets that IndiGo operates on all the routes can carry 180 passengers.
