Emirates to start Amman, Kuwait, Damascus, Doha, Sanaa flights

In line with its heightened focus on the Middle East region, Emirates has announced an additional 12 flights per week to major travel hubs in the region.This takes the total number of Emirates flights across the Middle East to 197.

Emirates Airline has said that from July 1, 2009, Emirates will operate two additional weekly flights to Kuwait and two additional weekly flights to Amman.

The airline will also operate three additional weekly flights to Damascus, four additional weekly flights to Doha, and one additional flight to Sanaa.

Ahmed Khoory, Emirates Senior Vice President, Gulf, Middle East & Iran, said that the demand for services to these five major Middle East had never been stronger. 

“The Middle East is one of the only regions in the world expected to post passenger traffic growth in 2009 and this is reflected in our increased services,” he said.

With the Middle East continuing to be one of Emirates’ most important markets, travellers from the region will have direct access to nearly 100 destinations, via Dubai, the airline said.

The addition of these new flights, is the third major increase in flights across the Middle East for Emirates, in 2009.

With the new flights, Emirates’ tally of total weekly flights in the region would be 28 flights to Kuwait, 14 flights to Amman, 14 flights to Damascus, 32 flights to Doha, and a daily flight to Sanaa.

Emirates currently flies to 14 cities across the Middle East each week.

The airline major has also expanded its services globally by commencing a daily service to San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Starting June 1, 2009, Emirates will start services to Bangkok and Toronto. 

Emirateas will also operate new flights to Seoul from December 1, 2009. The airline had recently started operations to Sydney and Auckland.
