EasyJet Newcastle-Malta flight launched

UK’s second largest low-cost airline, EasyJet, will launch a cheap Newcastle-Malta flight from April 2, 2009.
The Newcastle-Malta flight will run twice a week. The fare of the Newcastle-Malta flight will be £26.99 one way.

Dave Laws, Newcastle International Airport chief executive, said in a statement, “Choice, price and convenience are extremely important for our customers and this new service will offer holidaymakers the option of putting together their own package to this beautiful island, taking advantage of the excellent low-fares easyJet have put on sale. Malta has always been a very popular destination with North East passengers and we are sure there will be strong demand for this new service.”

Carly Brear, EasyJet’s UK commercial manager, has been quoted as saying, “Malta is a fantastic addition to our low-fares services from Newcastle, it’s a destination that has appeal for everyone whatever their budget and holiday needs.”

The EasyJet Newcastle-Malta flight will land at Malta International, Malta’s sole airport, based in Luqa.

A sought-after holiday spot, Malta is a group of Islands in the central Mediterranean that include the islands of Gozo and Comino.

EasyJet has also put its other flights on sales, and has said that this is a good time for passengers to book for summer holidays.

Promotions include discounted flights to destinations in Europe and North Africa. EasyJet is offering one-way fares as low as  £16.99 including taxes to Geneva, Paris, and Milan.

The sale period will be between February 1 – March 7, 2009. EasyJet has also said that in case passengers get the same flight at a lower price, then double the difference, will be refunded.

EasyJet is based at London Luton airport and operates on 387 routes.

Recently, EasyJet had announced that it would launch an EcoJet airliner, by 2015. Built with carbon fibre composites and using propfan engines, the EcoJet promises very high fuel efficiency.
