Cathay Pacific Delhi Bangkok flights nonstop direct flights start from March 30. Cathay Pacific decided to launch the Delhi-Bangkok direct flights, following Thailand’s decision to promote tourism by offering visa-on-arrival to tourists from India. All travellers from Delhi to Bangkok on Cathay Pacific direct flights will be provided visas for a 15-day stay in Thailand. Thailand hopes to boost tourism with the visa-on-arrival plan.
The Cathay Pacific flight from Delhi will take five and half hours to reach Bangkok airport. There will be a flight every day, taking off from New Delhi airport at 3.30 AM (early morning) and reaching Bangkok at 855 Am (morning). The return flight from Thailand will take off from Bangkok at 525 PM (evening) and reach New Delhi Indira Gandhi airport at 745 PM. (All in local times).
The Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific airline operates nearly 44 flights to Indian cities currently. The airline is flying to New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai as of now. Every day, there are two Cathay Pacific flights from New Delhi to Hong Kong, while there are 10 weekly flights from Mumbai to Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific airline’s general manager for India, Middle-East, Africa and Pakistan told reporters that destination Bangkok is not new for Cathay Pacific. He pointed to the popularity and affordability of Bangkok among tourists, adding that the airline believes in the “untapped potential” of the New Delhi-Bangkok route.
Though Cathay Pacific is gung-ho on the business potential of India and especially its cargo market, the airline has delayed the construction of a dedicated cargo terminal at the Hong Kong airport.
The Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific operates both Boeing and Airbus planes in its 120-strong fleet. The average age of aircraft in its fleet is 10.2 years. Cathay Pacific serves 115 airports at 115 destinations in 36 countries and had code-share arrangements with many airlines. The airline’s passenger load factor, or the proportion of seats filled on its flights, fell 5.3% in 2008 from 2007 to 75.5%.
Thailand’s visa-on-arrival program will be on till June 4. Currently, Bangkok offers visas for 15 days to tourists from 20 countries, including India. Those who wish to stay for more than 15 days in Bangkok or Thailand should apply for Thailand visas at embassies in their countries. Thailand is host to many exciting resorts and islands of tourist interest.
