Continental Airlines, based in Houston, Texas, the United States, has announced it will start new flights between Honolulu (the capital of Hawaii) and Nadi (in Fiji); and also between Maui (Hawaii) and Orange County (in Southern California, the United States).

Continental Airlines’ service between Honolulu and Nadi (Fiji) will begin on December 18, 2009.

The carrier’s new domestic flights between Maui (Hawaii) and Orange County is scheduled to commence on March 7, 2010, using Boeing 737-700 aircraft with 124 seats.

The Maui-Orange County service will operate 4 times a week, which the airline said   expects to be increased to daily service in the summer.

The airline also will increase the number of its flights between Honolulu and Orange County from 4 times a week to daily service.

In a statement, Continental Airlines said the Maui-Orange County service starting from March 7, 2010, will coincide with the airline’s 2 new services announced earlier – between Los Angeles and Maui, and a second daily flight between Los Angeles and Honolulu.

On the Mau-Orange County route, the Continental Airlines flight will take off from Kahului Airport in Mau at 11.10 p.m. and land in John Wayne Airport in Orange County at 7.45 a.m. the next day. (The flight is to leave 40 minutes later on Saturdays.) In the return direction, the flight will depart from Orange County at 5.20 p.m. and reach Maui at 8:05 p.m.

When the frequency of the Honolulu-Orange County service is increased from 4 times a week to daily service, the new flight will leave Honolulu International Airport at 1 p.m. and arrive in John Wayne Airport in Orange County at 9:35 p.m. On the return leg, the flight will leave Orange County at 9 a.m. and reach Honolulu at 11:45 a.m.

Continental Airlines said will use a Boeing 737-700 for the new Honolulu-Orange County flight, too.

Continental Airlines is the 8th biggest carrier serving Honolulu International Airport.
