British Airways, the flag-carrier airline of the United Kingdom, has launched daily, non-stop flights between Las Vegas, Nevada, the United States, and London.
Flight BA274 takes off from Terminal 2 of McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas at 8.20 p.m. and lands in Heathrow Airport in London at 2.05 p.m. the next day. In the return direction, Flight BA275 leaves Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport at
3:30 p.m. and reaches Las Vegas at 6.20 p.m. the same day.
British Airways is operating the new London-Las Vegas route with Boeing B777 aircraft that offers 3 cabins – with 36 seats in Club World (business-class), 24 seats in World Traveller Plus (premium economy-class), and 214 seats in World Traveller (economy-class).
The seats in the Club World cabin can be converted into 80-degree flat-beds, and the World Traveller Plus cabin comes with 38-inch pitch-seats equipped with in-seat power for personal computers, CF/DVD players and such other gadgets.
The Club World features 6-foot-long, full-flat beds, on-demand flight entertainment system, as well as Club Kitchen.
The carrier is offering a 4-day, introductory sale for its World Traveller Plus, Club World, and World Traveller cabins from October 26-29, 2009.
According to a statement from British Airways, roundtrip fares between Las Vegas and London is to cost $3136 for Club World, $936 for World Traveller Plus, and $276 for World Traveller.
In addition, 5 cities in Europe – Milan, Rome, Madrid, Paris and Athens – have been common-rated from Las Vegas, with roundtrip costing the same at $358 for World
Traveller (economy-class).
British Airways said all the introductory roundtrip fares are valid for travel from November 2, 2009, through December 20, 2009, and then from December 24, 2009, through March 28, 2010. The fare does not include fuel surcharges, government taxes and fees and the $2.50 ‘September 11 Security Fee.’
Apart from the introductory roundtrip fares, British Airways Holidays is offering what it calls inclusive ‘city breaks’ packages to Paris, London and Rome – beginning at $769 a person for roundtrip air travel as well as 3 nights’ accommodation.
Las Vegas is the 19th destination of British Airways in the United States with daily services to the United Kingdom, according to Simon Talling-Smith, executive vice-president (Americas) of British Airways.
Through the Terminal 5 of London’s Heathrow Airport – which Talling-Smith described as “Europe’s largest as well as the most modern airport terminal” – passengers will get convenient and quick and connections to and from other cities in the United Kingdom that British Airways flies to, the European Continent, the Far East, the Middle East, India, Australia and Africa.
According to British Airways, besides the introductory fares and special packages, passengers on the new Las Vegas-London flights will benefit from a wide array of amenities such as car rental, hotel and sightseeing that are available through British Airways Holidays.
