British Airways, the national flag-carrier airline of the United Kingdom, is launching new fights to India as well as to the Caribbean region.
The carrier will start daily, non-stop flight between Las Vegas in the United States and 5 cities India, via Heathrow Airport in London, on October 25, 2009.
British Airways will launch twice-a-week flights from Britain to Montego Bay in Jamaica and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic in October 2009.
British Airways said it also would raise the number of flights to other favourite destinations in the Caribbean – the number of services from London’s Gatwick Airport to the island of St Lucia will go up from 3 flights a week to 5 flights a week; the weekly flights to Barbados will increase from 9 to 10; and the flights to Port of Spain (Trinidad) from 3 flights a week to 5 flights a week.
In a press release, Judy Jarvis, South Asia regional commercial manager of British Airways, said the launch of the Las Vegas-India fight was timed to coincide with the festive season and the holiday season in India. Passengers from India, Jarvis added, would have convenient flight options from 5 Indian cities to Las Vegas.
Notwithstanding the global economic recession, Las Vegas presents new opportunities in business and growth for British Airways, the press release said, adding that the airline “will continue its commitment to invest in its customers.”
Passengers from India will have, apart from having convenient flight options from 5 cities in the country, 45 flights a week to Las Vegas.
British Airways said that all these flights between India and Las Vegas are through Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5, the largest and the most modern airport terminal in Europe. Also, the passengers will get “quick and convenient transfers” from Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5.
On the India-Las Vegas route, British Airways will use a Boeing 777, with a three-class configuration that offers Club World (business-class), World Traveller Plus (premium-economy) and World Traveller (economy-class) cabins.
On the British Airways’ new twice-weekly flights from Britain to Montego Bay in Jamaica and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, the airline said in a statement that it was “reinforcing its position as the airline with more flights to the Caribbean region than any other carrier based in the United Kingdom.”
The new flight to Montego Bay in Jamaica, along with the existing Gatwick Airport-Kingston route, would make it easier for passengers to choose their “perfect holiday” to Jamaica, British Airways said. Also, passengers would be guaranteed discounts on flight, in addition to hotel packages, through the new holiday packages displayed on the website of British Airways.
According to British Airways, accommodation in Montego Bay includes The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort as well as rooms on the Beach in Ocho Rios, which is only 5 minutes away from the famed Dunns River Falls.
