Bahrain Air Calicut flights launched

Bahrain Air, a private carrier from the Kingdom of Bahrain has now launched flights to Calicut.This is Bahrain Air’s second Indian destination after launching flights to Kochi, in March 2009.

“There are around 300,000 expatriate Indians in Bahrain and a large number of them are from Kerala,” Bahrain Air director of corporate planning and commercial operations B.K Majmudar said, on April 9, 2009.

“Our service to Kozhikode is an expansion into the lucrative market of India, mainly the southern region,” he added.

Bahrain Air will run three Bahrain-Calicut flights weekly, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The airline will operate the A320 bus with 12 premium class seats and 150 economy class seats.

The Bahrain Air flight will leave Bahrain at 20:15 PM and arrive in Calicut International Airport at 03:15 AM, local time.

‘We have shared a successful association with Bahrain Air since they started operations in India back in 2008 and today, it gives me great pleasure to welcome their second-run of operations in India,” Mr. Ashok Fenn, President and CEO, InterGlobe Air Transport said.

“With our collective efforts, we are confident to establish a strong presence in the Indian subcontinent, and be recognized as a preferred product to Bahrain and
beyond,” he added.

After the launch of its Bahrain-Calicut flight, Bahrain Air has opened its second sales office in India, in Kozhikode.

“The opening of this sales office mirrors our loyalty and dedication we place on the Indian market,” B.K Majmudar said.

“With the three weekly flights to Kozhikode, Bahrain Air will be serving both the Cochin and Calicut passengers, with complete access to our ample MENA destinations network, our high quality of service and our sensible fares,” he added.

Bahrain Air is the first low-cost carrier in Bahrain. It started operations in February 2008.
