Allegiant Air, the low-fare carrier based in Enterprise, Nevada, the United States, is launching non-stop flights between Duluth (Minnesota) and Orlando (Florida) from November 20, 2009.The airline also announced that it will start direct service between Grand Forks in North Dakota and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona from November 13, 2009.
The introductory fares between Grand Forks and Phoenix-Mesa with will be $89.99 each way, when bought at airport ticket counters of Allegiant Air.
Allegiant Air will fly between Grand Forks International Airport and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport two times a week – on Mondays and Fridays. From November 13, 2009, the flight is scheduled to leave Grand Forks at 7.45 p.m. and reach Phoenix-Mesa at 10 p.m.
On the return leg, the flight will depart Phoenix-Mesa at 3:20 p.m. and arrive in Grand Forks at 7:05 p.m. – all flight times being local.
A press release from Allegiant Air said that, for flying on the Duluth-Orlando route, passengers can buy tickets from their airport ticket counter for as low as $89.99 each way – which means that one can fly from Duluth to Orlando and back for about $180.
Allegiant Air – which styles itself as the ‘Official Airline for Sunshine’ – will fly non-stop between Duluth International Airport and Orlando Sanford International Airport two times a week – on Mondays and Fridays.
On the Duluth-Orlando route, the airline will use the MD-80 series jet aircraft with 150 seats.
The inaugural flight on November 20, 2009, will take off from Duluth International Airport at 11.15 a.m. land in Orlando Sanford International Airport at 3.45 p.m. In the return direction, the flights will depart Orlando at 8 a.m. and reach Duluth at 10.35 a.m. All the flight times are local.
Allegiant Air explained in the press release that the one-way introductory fare of $89.99 is limited, must be bought by September 30, 2009, and is valid for travel through February 10, 2010.
Also, seats are limited under the introductory fare.
However, the introductory fares are not available on all flights on the Duluth-Orlando route. Once the period of the introductory fare is over, the regular one-way fares on the Duluth-Orlando will begin at $99.99 one-way.
The offer, according to Allegiant Air, is not available from November 25-30, 2009; from December 22-31, 2009; and from January 1-4, 2010.
The prices do not include the PFC or the ‘September 11’ security fee of up to $10.60 a segment. (A segment is one takeoff and one landing.)
On the Duluth-Orlando route, a convenience fee of $14 a passenger will be charged when booked on the airline’s website.
A convenience fee of $14 a passenger plus $10 a segment will be charged when the ticket is bought at Allegiant Air call centers.
However, tickets bought at any Allegiant Air Airport Ticket Office will not have a convenience fee or call-center fee.
When bought at the time of booking, a fee of $15-$20 for the first checked bag per bag and a fee of $25 for the second checked will be charged for passenger, per segment on the Duluth-Orlando route. If bought at flight check-in, a fee of $35 per checked bag, per passenger, per segment will apply for the first two checked bags.
Three or more checked bags will attract extra fees.
