AirTran Airways, based in Orlando, Florida, the United States, is increasing the number of its winter flights to Florida.
The airline said in a press release that it will add daily flights – starting December 17, 2009 – to Orlando and Fort Myers in Florida from Pittsburgh, Boston, Columbus (Ohio), and Chicago Midway International Airport.
These flights, according to AirTran Airways, are in addition to the carrier’s extensive schedule at present to 10 cities in the state of Florida, nicknamed the Sunshine State. The 10 cities include Key West, to which the flight was launched recently.
AirTran Airways will operate daily, direct service between Boston and Orlando from December 17, 2009. (This is apart from the 2 existing daily, non-stop Boston-Orlando flights). Fight 895 will leave Boston at 3:05 p.m. and reach Orlando at 6:34 p.m. In the return direction, Flight 892 will take off from Orlando at 11:23 a.m. and land in Boston at 2:25 p.m.
Starting December 17, 2009, the following daily, non-stop flights will be operated between Pittsburgh and Orlando, in addition to the 3 existing daily, direct flights on the route: Flight 982 will depart from Pittsburgh at 7:08 p.m. and arriver at Orlando at 9:24 p.m. On the return leg, Flight 891 will leave Orlando at 7:15 p.m. and reach Pittsburgh at 9:33 p.m.
From December 17, 2009, AirTran Airways will operate additional, daily, non-stop services between Chicago Midway International Airport and Fort Myers, besides the existing 3 daily, non-stop flights. Flight 1209 takes off from Chicago/Midway at 2:25 p.m. and land in Fort Myers at 6:09 p.m. In the reverse direction, Flight 1208 leaves Fort Myers at 11:45 a.m. and reaches Chicago/Midway at 1:45 p.m.
The extra daily, direct Columbus-Fort Myers services start from December 17, 2009. (This is in addition to the 2 daily, non-stop flights at present). Flight 1100 will take off from Columbus at 8:30 a.m. and land in Fort Myers at 11:05 a.m. On the return leg, Flight 1101 will depart from Fort Myers at 6:59 p.m. and reach Columbus at 9:34 p.m.
AirTran Airways will, from December 17, 2009, itself add 2 daily, direct flights between Atlanta in Georgia and Nassau in the Bahamas. The one-way rates on the Atlanta-Nassau route, which start from $124, need at least 28 days’ advance notice of travel. Passport is required for US citizens, the airline said in the press release.
From December 17, 2009, AirTran Airways will provide service to Key West in Florida on the same plane via Orlando (that is, a change of plane is not required). Rates, starting from $159, will require a 21-day advance notice of travel.
Beginning December 19, 2009, the airline will add a non-stop flight (on Saturdays only) between Atlanta and Aruba (located in the Netherlands Antilles island-chain, off the coast of Venezuela). US citizens require passport for the travel.
AirTran Airways will operate daily service to Montego Bay (in Jamaica) from February 11, 2010. The one-way rates on the route start from $165, requiring an advance purchase notice of 2 weeks or more. US citizens will need passport for travelling on the route.
