AirTran Airways launches several new flights within the US

The low-cost airline AirTran Airways has announced the launch of a number of new flights within the United States.

AirTran Airways, based in Orlando, Florida, the United States, and a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, said in a statement that it added daily, non-stop flights between Yeager Airport in Charleston (West Virginia) and Orlando International Airport in Orlando (Florida) on June 25, 2009.

Also launched on June 25, 2009, were non-stop services from Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown (Pennsylvania) to Orlando International Airport in Orlando (Florida) as well as to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale (Florida).

AirTran Airways said it would be flying to Orlando 4 days a week and to Fort Lauderdale 3 days a week.
The airline will start non-stop flights between Bishop International Airport in Flint, Michigan, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida on November 4, 2009.

AirTran Airways said it would resume daily, non-stop flights between Flint and Tampa – being operated once a week in the summer – from October 6, 2009, and also restart daily flights to Fort Myers in Florida from November 4, 2009.

On the Charleston-Orlando route, AirTran’s non-stop flight leaves Yeager Airport in Charleston (West Virginia) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 4.40 p.m. and land at Orlando International Airport in Orlando (Florida) at 6.30 p.m. On the return direction, the flight takes off from Orlando at 2.10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and reaches Charleston at 4.05 p.m.

Leisure-class tickets on the Charleston-Orlando route start at $44 each way, walk-up tickets at $64, and business-class tickets at $234 each way.

On the Allentown-Orlando route, the new AirTran Airways service operates on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The flight leaves Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown (Pennsylvania) at 5.05 p.m. and reaches Orlando International Airport in Orlando (Florida) at 7.35 p.m. On the return leg, the flight takes off from Orlando at 2.05 p.m. and lands at Allentown at 4.30 p.m.

In the statement, John Kirby, AirTran Airways’ senior director of strategic planning, said the budget airline “continues to bring low fares to overpriced and underserved markets across the United States.”
