Air Arabia operating 8 extra flights on the Sharjah-Goa route for the Christmas-holiday season

The airline is offering additional Sharjah-Goa flights on December 17, 23, 24 and 30, 2009, for the Christmas holidays.

Apart from these, Air Arabia will operate supplementary flights on the Sharjah-Goa route between January 4 and 7, 2010.

Both the additional flights and supplementary flights leave Sharjah International Airport at 2.25 p.m. (local time) and reach Dabolim International Airport in Goa at 7.00 p.m. (local time). In the return direction, flights take off from Goa at 7.45 p.m. (local time) and land in Sharjah at 9.40 p.m. (local time).

At present, Air Arabia operates scheduled round-trip flights 3 times a week between its hub at Sharjah International Airport and Dabolim International Airport in Goa.

According to the regular schedule, Air Arabia operates services from Sharjah to Goa on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays – leaving Sharjah at 10.25 p.m. (local time) and reaching Goa at 3:00 a.m. (local time). On the return leg, the flights depart from Goa on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 3.45 a.m. (local time) and land in Sharjah at 5:40 a.m. (local time).

A K Nizar, chief of the commercial department of Air Arabia, said in a statement that the airline had decided to launch 8 additional flights at very convenient times for the upcoming holiday season in response to the high demand for service to Goa.

Air Arabia provides people travelling from Goa to Sharjah a convenient tourist-visa service in order to visit their family and friends in the in the United Arab Emirates, Nizar added.

Goa, situated on India’s west coast, is famous for its beaches, world-heritage architecture, places of worship, and the temperate climate.

Hundreds of thousands of foreign as well as domestic tourists visit Goa each year – accounting for a share of about 12% of all tourist arrivals in India. And, it is tourism that contributes the most to the economy of Goa.

Adel Ali, CEO of Air Arabia, had said in an interview earlier in December 2009 that the carrier was making efforts to make profits in 2010.
