Yamaha Motor India, fresh from the successful launch and great response for FZ-16, is now going ahead with plans to spruce up output. The bike major has said it would be  raising its production to 500 units a day from now on.

Yamaha India, which has a plant at Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh, currently rolls out 350 units a day. In a three month period, the company is looking at rolling out 25,000 units of Yamaha FZ-16 models. Combining its Faridabad and Surajpur plant, the company is targeting eight lakh units per annum.

Yamaha has already lined up an investment of Rs 800 crore to increase its existing capacity to produce four lakh units per annum. Moreover, as a whole in the country it has planned to increase its current 330 dealers to 1500 dealers.

The bike giant, which had launched its FZ-16 in October at a price of Rs. 65000, is now looking at increasing its FZ-16 production in stages. The company stated that as of now it is sitting on 22,000 paid-up orders for FZ-16.

The bookings have proved that the FZ-16 has outshined Yamaha YZF-R15 (150 cc) making it the most wanted than other bikes, it added. The company currently has in the marketplace various models such as MT01 (1670 cc), YZF-R1 (998 cc), Gladiator Type SS & RS (125 cc), Gladiator Graffiti (125cc), G5 (106 cc), Alba (106 cc) and Crux (106 cc).

Besides these, it is likely that the company might bring in more bikes next year. According to officials, the bike maker is planning to launch two more bikes in the coming year. This apart, it is also mulling over options to launch gearless scooters in Inda. Officials added that the company is currently studying the market in this regard.
