Yamaha FZ16 priced at Rs 65,000 ex-showroom Mumbai

There has been a lot of confusion about the actual price of the recently launched Yamaha FZ16 motorcycle.

Our comments thread on the launch story of the FZ16 is full of questions asking about the price – several commenters have clarified the pricing, but the questions still keep coming. So here goes.

The Yamaha FZ16 is priced at Rs 65,000 ex-showroom Mumbai. On-road price, we expect, will be around Rs 74,000. Not more than that for sure. Normally, prices are a bit less than Mumbai for Delhi.

I think a lot of people know the price already – but many seem to be unable to believe that such a sexy motorcycle is available at this price. Believe it, its true. The FZ16 has totally taken the shine away from the other Yamaha motorcycle, the YZF-R15, that was launched just a couple of months back. True, that is a more sporty motorcycle, but it is priced beyond most bikers – and the FZ16 is a dream come true for them.

Both the Yamaha YZF R15 and the FZ16 are 150 cc motorcycles – but the former produces 17 PS while the FZ16 produces 14 PS. The Yamaha FZ15 has five gears and has those poweful streekbike looks, while the YZF R15 sticks to the looks of the racer YZF R1.

If you are considering the Yamaha FZ16, you should also look at the TVS Apache RTR 160 Fi, just to be sure you want the FZ16, not the RTR. That produces 15.7 bhp compared to the 14 of the FZ16. We are not recommending it over the FZ16.

In style, the Yamaha FZ16 beats the RTR hands down, no doubt about it. Which would be the better motorcycle on the road, we will have to wait for some comparative road tests by our automobile magazines.

    Hi Guys, Now I Own FZ 16 and believe you me its a master peace and I have the orange colour. It cost me 76050/- on road from Excellent Yamaha at Andheri (# 26842390 & 26842440) But I inquired with Yamaha Showroom the price was 74850/-. When asked why the difference of 1200/- , they said the company showroom later charges for the smart car (Rs. 500/- and a 600/- Leg guard) and that’s true. But whatever said and done the bike is an eye catcher on road and the guys owning Pulsar don’t even look at the bike with shame lol.     BTW my bike was the first bike on Mumbai road as I requested the dealer to let me take the bike on a TC number plate. The bike is not yet registered as the RTO is shut for Diwali. Will get the papers on Monday god willing.

    and yes please don’t buy the YZF 15, it sucks as many repent buying. FZ 16 has its own class.
    I hate Pulsar from the very beginning . have used Yamaha bikes for 28 years. My first bike was Yamaha 350 and used it for 16 years. the then cost of the bike was 17000/- ..

    FZ is a nice bike, and a i candy as well, not to mention that yamaha use best tech. for there bikes, I had a test ride, its really very confortable and stylish. But waiting for proper response as Yamaha service centers are really poor in there services..so think twice before u go for this bike as Service Centers will suck u

    super duper bike i just saw it near a shop,
    class A1 bike and i felt that must be costly but after searching came to that its just 75000, which is almost similar to rest of the bikes.
    and planning to buy it soon.

    Hi,myself shashi kant shukla at past when i saw the add of YamahaF16 really i cant tell u all the guys that how much happiness i felt from inside my body when i saw the pic of the yamaha F-16 i was really shocked and i am very glad to hear that the rate of the bike is just ony the 65,000 each and every one should prefer the yamaha bike only because in now a days youth wanna speed but with some care i am also a youngster and having a habit of riding the bike up to the high limit up till now i am of 21 yrs old i had driven my bike up to the 120kmph only and my dream is to touch 200 and it will only be done with the yamaha. “I LOVE YAMAHA BIKES”
