India Yamaha Motor has launched its 150cc Yamaha Fazer motorcycle in India, on July 6, 2009.

The Yamaha Fazer, the latest in India Yamaha Motor’s highly successful FZ line-up consisting of the FZ-16 and the FZ-S motorcycles, will be priced at Rs 72,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi.)

Yukimine Tsuji, Yamaha CEO and MD, said, “New Fazer is the latest addition in our portfolio of technologically superior bikes and we hope to provide the latest touring experience.”

Let us take a moment to remember that this is not some super racing motorcycle. Sure, the looks are superb by Indian standards. Probably even more dynamic lookswise than the FZ-16. Quality too is in a class of its own. However, in pure horsepower stakes, there are other motorcycles, including the Hero Honda Karizma, that can beat the Fazer 150 hands down.

He said that the company had announced its investments plans during Auto Expo 2008, and had promised to give India the feel of high technology and real Yamaha.

Tsuji added, “Today the investment comes alive in the form of this internationally benchmarked modern manufacturing facility.”

“New Fazer is the latest addition in our portfolio of technologically superior bikes including YZF-R15, FZ-16 and FZ-S” which exhibit Yamaha’s global ingredients – Performance, Innovation & Design and are the Best Products currently in the market to fulfill the aspirations of Indian biking enthusiasts,” he added.

The sporty Yahama Fazer motorcycle will be available in four colors: Electric Blue, Midnight Black, Lava Red, and Flaming Orange.

Based on the FZ-16 platform, the Yamaha Fazer motorcycle is 1,975mm in length,770mm in width, and 1,045mm in hieght.

The Yamaha Fazer motorcycle is powered by a 153cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve single cylinder engine that develops 14PS of maximum output at 7500rpm and maximum torque of 14Nm at 6500rpm.

The Yamaha Fazer motorcycle has a wheelbase of 1,335mm, and has a minimum ground clearance of 160mm.

The 150cc Yamaha Fazer motorcycle gets fatter 140/60 rear tyres with 17? alloy wheels.

The Yamaha Fazer motorcycle will be rolled out from Yahama Motor India’s new facility at Surajpur, Uttar Pradesh.

India Yahama Motor has had a fair deal of success in the Indian market. In June 2009, India Yamaha Motor rung up sales of 17,878 units, an 84 per cent increase compared to the 9,699 units it sold in June 2008.

Meanwhile, India Yahama Motor also plans to launch exclusive racing kits in India, in collaboration with racing equipment maket Daytona, for Yamaha’s YZF-R15 and FZ series models.

The motorcycle racing kits would have adjustable back steps, high-lift cams, full exhaust system, and braking parts like big diameter petal disc brakes, master cylinder, and stainless steel hose, and would be available in India from September 2009, the company has said.

    F another 150cc.
I will prefer pulsar 220(only Rs 70000) instead of this 150cc toy

  2. aman said on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 4:06

yar i don’t know when these people will understand that we want bigger bikes, higher bhp, higher torque. We were always angry on bajaj that they launch 150cc then 180cc then 200cc then 220cc. But yamaha has gone one step up 150(R1) then 150(FZ) then 150(FZS) now 150 fazer. In INDIA we have bikes of price range 45000 to 1lakh then a sudden jump to 10lakh. where one should go with a budget of 2 or 4lakh. Where are 250cc or 400cc bikes!!

Yamaha fazer looks fantastic but This is rally not gud for a 150 cc bike priced 72 k .it should be 7000 rs down at pulsar price and I am sure yamaha fazer will give tough compitition to pulsar if this really happens

  4. ajay said on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 17:45

yamaha fazer is looking good bike but the price is to high for 150 cc bike same is to fzs price is high for their segment.i think yamaha will consider this to..

Yamaha is known for it’s class of Bikes…. Why are they still not unfolding the lots for Indian market is a strange thing. Just hovering around 150cc Bikes are not in the game now….Need more Horse power & BHP to burn the roads and not. A strong feeling that the wait is gonna be long for us. Hope….We get some best of the lot from Yamaha Stride.

  8. R.Gopinath said on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 18:58

The pricing is toooooo high for a 150cc bike….It would be good if it is priced between 65,000 to 67,000

  9. sameer said on Thursday, July 9, 2009, 7:55

Yes I agree with you guys. Comeon Yamaha, grow up. We have seen lot of these 150 cc shit. We want more power. Fazer is a really good looking bike but I think the price is too high. If it had been a 200 cc bike then I would have gone for this one. For this kind of money I think I will go for pulsar 220.

  10. unknown said on Thursday, July 9, 2009, 8:26

Guys, come on, think logically. Pulsar 150cc is 68k and Fazer will be around 80k . Now please don’t compare a bajaj with a Yamaha. I am ready to pay 12k more for this bitch called Fazer. Think of the quality, reliability, Driving pleasure, stability, road grip etc. All these come in a Yamaha only. So why not invest 12k more and buy this bike instead of a pulsar 150. I think the pricing from Yamaha is competitive. If you people want 300 cc, 400cc bikes then I think you should be ready to invest 3lacs and above and I don’t think an Indian will do this.

  11. Abhishek kaushik said on Thursday, July 9, 2009, 13:16

agreed the looks of all recent yamaha launches r outstanding compared to nything present in the indian market , but looks alone cant sustain ny bike..!!!
the earlier yamaha understands this , the better for thm…they shud know that there is a serious need for performance bikes in the range of 20 to 30 bhp within a price band of 70 k to 1.5 lacs…come on yamaha , give us what ur best at..!!

  12. Rushabh said on Friday, July 10, 2009, 13:08

    Fazer 150cc =FZ16 body +R15 Head light

    FZ16 sells for 65000

one pay’s 72000 for fazer150 need to pay 7000 extra for head light

the headlight’s are cool but overall it looks like fz16 and the power and torque should have been better for such a bulky looking bike. I am dyeing to take a test ride of it as i am a fan of r15.

  15. vijay said on Saturday, July 11, 2009, 11:52

price is a disaster……. price should be around 67k….

  16. muneb007 said on Saturday, July 11, 2009, 15:47

folks. Ppl in india care more about economy/ milage when it comes 2 ne thing 4m a bike 2 a car. They dont mind investing around 1.0 – 1.5 lakh while buying a bike. But they want milage. Now that requires a smaller engine, skinny tires, less wheel base. Looks come secondary.. Now yamaha is giving all these plus superb looks.. Plus u get quality n brand name. Definitely most will prefer it over others. In 2002, bajaj launched pulsar, 4 yrs after hh cbz launch. Look wise cbz was better. Bt pulsar sold like hot cakes. Y? Coz of milage. Even swift diesel outsells all competetion. Y? Milage.
So this is what yamaha has done. Good milage. Great looks. Beat the competetion in the home ground of the recent winner (hero honda) of largest bike seller in the world, and win back its crown…

  24. ashish said on Sunday, July 12, 2009, 11:48

150 cc is ok but i think yamaha should provide racing ( i mean moto gp) technology 150cc engines in this fazer… but overall in 150cc segment with this fz-16+r15 front faring is not enough.. atleast yamaha has to change their molding dies of such farings yar… we want original design from FAZER ………and more torque.

  25. ravi said on Monday, July 13, 2009, 2:13

yamaha fazer 150cc is high priced in 150 cc segment. It may not be value for money bike.the price must be below65.

  28. robin said on Monday, July 13, 2009, 12:03

definately yamaha has gone one step forward in its styling looks hands up yamaha . But for now we fz16 users is going to loose our bike charm so is it possible to modify our fz16 front looks like fazer . and yamaha please bring 250 cc in same new fazer .

  29. aman said on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 16:07

yaaaaaaa frnds it is really two costly bike compared to 150cc other bajaj and other bikes so we all together wish yamaha to reduce the price

  30. robin said on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 19:26

i have fz16 its good for comfort of riding but not for long ride and fz 16 mileage is not so good it gives only 30 as fazer has got same engine if any body is looking for mileage and high speed go for other option . but engine wise yamaha has got best .

    *14 bhp .
    *single disk
    *Air cooled
    *75k (worst)

Have seen Fazer 150c,,, its stunningly good looking byke but the only disappointement is that this byke’s cost is on higher side,,, spending 75k for a 150cc bike is really stupid,,, I feel if Yamaha brings the cost of this byke to 65k,,, it would be a solid competetor for any other byke……

    ROCK ONNNNNN YAMAHAAAAAAAA

Please dont disappoint us bring the cost of the byke down,,, I am planning to go for it….

  53. tux said on Thursday, August 20, 2009, 18:15

I would be a fool to buy this bike and I will be happy for that.
14bhp is low but if you drive this bike its whole lot better than pulsar and karizma and …name them.
Engine is smooth and rpm is to play with .
I would really like a review where people think above bhp and cc.
132kmph is the claimed top speed…it is true ?

  54. sammu said on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, 20:30

yamaha is yamaha………and bajaj is bajaj……….wat matters here is speed ……..we ol indians need speed wid gud looks………..i think price can be adjusted but BIKE ME DUM HONA CHAHIYE……and thats must………….aur haan agar bajaj pulsar 225 ko aur acchi look de deti hai to yamaha fazer kahin stand nahi karegi.
