Unveiling the first ever coach with a multi-axle configuration in the country, Volvo Buses India has rolled out a special edition of its Signature series buses.

The special edition Volvo Ocean Race signature series of the 9400 6×2 has been unveiled in dedication to the Volvo Ocean Race, – the biggest yacht race in the world and one of the largest sporting events across the world.
The new Volvo 9400 6×2 buses come with a 9-litre rear engine and a 6×2 configuration, and have been developed to provide passengers with an even higher level of comfort. Besides, the company also aims at better transport economy and better fuel consumption per passenger km.
Termed as the first vehicle in India that features electronically controlled air suspension and disk brakes, the Volvo 9400 6×2 comes with the EBS-5 braking system, a technology that ensures the highest safety for passengers and driver along with various safety features as frontal impact safety, roll-over protection, among others. The coach comes equipped with an electronic architecture, which offers even greater benefits for operators.
With the launch of the vehicle, Volvo Buses India has taken the inter-city luxury AC coach segment to its next level. According to the bus maker, the newly-launched Signature series will offer the best-in-class riding comfort and is backed by well-proven technology in India. It is expected that the new model would offer a new standard in performance-economy ratio among all the vehicles in this segment.
Meanwhile, in India over the years the company has been doing good in the buses segment. Even as economy went into a slowdown mode affecting all sections of the industrial scene, Volvo Buses India sold 425 buses this year against the year’s target of 440. Last year, it had sold 200 buses in India. The company is set to achieve a turnover of Rs. 400 crore by the end of December, sources added. Volvo 9400 6×2 for India will be produced at Volvo Buses plant in Hosakote, near Bangalore.
