Ultra Motors, an electric vehicle company based in New Delhi, India has launched two electric scooters for the Indian market – the Ultra Fun and the Ultra Shakti.

Like many other electric scooters in India such as the ones from BSA, these two are not capable or designed for high speeds, thus enabling riders to ride these without a license. You might also be interested in reading this article Electric Scooters in India which we published a few months back.

The Ultra Fun is an electric scooter targeted at women and designed for that purpose. It is leightweight, and the height is also suitable for women. The Ultra Fun is powered by a 250 KW electric motor.

The Ultra Shakti, on the other hand, is geared for hilly terrain and is powered by the same 250 KW electric motor. We believe gearing must be a bit different for it to traverse slightly difficult terrain.

The company has not revealed any information about the charging time, or the expected range of these two electric scooters. As far as we can guess, like all electric scooters in India, these ones too do not use lithium ion batteries which make the scooter lighter as well as offer better charging times and mileage per charge. The downside there is higher cost, of course.

Electric scooters are a perfectly viable transportation alternative in India for those who do not need to commute long distances. For a trip to the market, or to school and back, as long as the terrain is not very tough, these electric scooters manage them well.
