TVS Motors plans to launch a slew of products in the domestic market soon.To start with it will launch the TVS Apache RTR 180 Menace in May 2009. The company had recently launched a new edition of the Apache 160 RTR Fi.
TVS will also launch the TVS Sport, a new edition of its Star Sport, and a new TVS Flame.
The company has said that it expects these launches to increase its market share by around 2 per cent, and add to its volumes.
TVS Motors has registered 3% growth in April 2009, clocking total two wheeler sales of 113,119 units compared 109,972 units, in April 2008.
The most exciting product to be launched is the premium motorcycle, the TVS Apache RTR 180 Menace, that will be the highest capacity motorcycle in TVS’ line-up.
The sporty motorcycle will retain the sporty naked look of the TVS Apache 160 RTR Fi motorcycle. The front portion of the TVS Apache RTR 180 Menace will have a semi-full faring that will reveal part of the engine adding to the naked look of the bike.
It will have a bigger RTR sticker on the tank scoops, unlike the TVS Apache 160 RTR Fi, and a wider 110/80-17 rear tyre.
The motorcycle will have projector lamps, 120 rear, trip meter, digital speedometer and 0-60 timer, petal-shaped disc brakes, naked chain cover, and a service and battery indicator.
The TVS Apache RTR 180 Menace will be powered by a fuel injection system, producing 18bhp with a top speed of 135 kmph. The motorcycle is expected to have a higher compression ratio than the Apache 160 RTR Fi.
The motorcycle is likely to be priced between Rs 70,000 – Rs 100,000.
Reports say that TVS also plans to launch a 200cc edition of Apache with ABS, in the future.
