Tata Motors had a superb run with the Ace ever since it was introduced in2005.  And now, there are two newer versions of the Tata Ace in the Indian market. Tata has launched two new versions of the Tata Ace, the Super Ace and the Ace EX.

Tata Super Ace

The Tata Super Ace is quite an upgrade. Definitely not like the typical freshing up and new graphics business that we from Indian car manufacturers including Tata with their anniversary and limitd editions. The Super Ace is powered by a four cylinder, 475 IDI turbo intercooled diesel engine producing 70 bhp. That translates to a reasonaly powerful small truck with a carrying capacity of one ton, and attain a top speed of 125 kmph. The load area is larger too, now at 8 feet 7 inches. Lookswise, the new Tata Super Ace looks slightly different with a refreshed grille. The company says that the Super Ace offers a lot more by way of driver comforts such as a lockable glovebox, provision for mobile charger, rear view mirrors on both sides and sun visor. Not bad at all for a little truck in this class.

The Super Ace also offers power steering, and thousands of drivers would be thankful for that to Tata Motors. There are also front bucket seats and some amount of adjustability to the seats. The Tata Super Ace comes with 12 months/50,000 kms warranty.

The Tata Super ACE will now enable owners to increase the number of trips in the day, provide better earnings and faster growth, thus keeping in pace with the growing business needs.

Tata Ace EX

The Tata Ace EX is a reasonably good upgrade too. There is a five speed gearbox which will enable more fuel savings and less stress on the engine. Tyres are now bigger, says Tata. There is also an automatic stop-start (similar to a micro-hybrid Scorpio) which will switch off and start the Ace EX at busy intersections or traffic jams enabling more fuel savings.

There is no change to the engine, we think. There is definitely no mention of increased capacity for the engine in the press release, which leads us to believe that this is the same 16 bhp motor that did duty in the earlier versions of the Ace. That did the job, and even could be found on expressways hauling serious loads.

The Tata Ace EX comes with a warranty of 36,000 kms /12 months.

Tata has not announced any prices for either the Super Ace or Ace EX as of now.
