So now you have an answer to the most important question about cars in India: “But what’s the mileage?” Now you know.

It is closely followed by the Tata Motors’ Indigo Dicor, which has a fuel efficiency of 21.4 km per litre.

Next in line is the hatchback Maruti Swift, the third largest selling diesel car in India, which returns a fuel efficiency of 21.4 km pet litre.

It is only the smallest cars that have topped the fuel-efficiency standings. None of the luxury cars figured in the list though the Honda City, Skoda Octavia, and Skoda Laura diesel are said to provide good fuel efficiency.

The Tata Nano, though, can run a few more kilometres on petrol than the Hyundai Verna which tops the diesel category.

This is yet another plus for the extremely popular Tata Nano.
