Industry observers point out that it is likely that the spruced up Indica B-segment hatchback would also have an electric version joining the line-up.

A revised ‘Europa’ version of the Nano would be priced around $2,000 and is likely to travel to Europe after the car is launched in India this April. However, it is being rumoured that the Tatas might decide against using the Rover brand that the company had last year acquired through its Jaguar and Land-Rover take over.

On DWS Auto India, we have noticed that quite a few Indians have been asking for the Nano Europa in India. Good idea, but Tata would want us to stick with the Luxury variant instead.

According to auto news reports, the Nano Europa will come powered by a three -cylinder MPFI engine. The engine will sport 5-speed automatic transmission and electric power steering. The gasoline engine will provide CO2 emissions of less than 100g/km. The interiors too will have a better finish than what has been done for the Indian Tata Nano. Further, the Nano Europa will have ABS, ESP and air bags.

Meanwhile, the Tatas are lining up their battery-electric Indica Vista EV for launch in Eurpoe. The four-seater is being tested in Europe. The car would use super polymer lithium ion batteries which have superior energy density to conventional batteries, said a report.

The Indian auto major is planning to make its electric vehicles in association with Miljo Grenland/Innovasjon of Norway. Tata Motors European Technical Centre plc, Tata Motors’ subsidiary in the United Kngdom, holds a 70 percent share in Miljo Grenland/Innovasjon of Norway.
