Tata Nano booking date moved to March 23,2009

Tata Nano’s booking date has been expedited to March 23, 2009, the day of its commercial launch.

Earlier, Tata Nano bookings was expected to open in the second week of April 2009.

Tata Motors said, at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, “The bookings will start from March 23 and delivery will start from the first week of April.”

Update: It seems that the initial deposit for booking a Nano is just Rs 2,999. You can book the Tata Nano online. Also, Tata Nano application forms would be available from 9 April, and you can book your car only from then.

Initially, the company had said that the Tata Nano would be on display at all Tata dealerships from the first week of April 2009, after which bookings will be accepted.

The company has also clarified that the first batch of Tata Nanos would not be reserved for VIPs and celebrities, as reported.

The booking amount for the Tata Nano is expected to be in the region of Rs 70,000, but exact details about the booking price, booking, and delivery, will be announced on March 23, 2009, during the commerical launch of the Tata Nano.

Initially, Tata Motors will accept bookings for 1 lakh Tata Nanos but the numbers will go up when Tata’s Sanand facility, in Gujarat, is up and running. As of now, 50 Tata Nanos are rolled out from the company’s Pantnagar plant.

The Tata Nano will be launched in three variants: standard, deluxe, and luxury variants. The base model of the Tata Nano will not have air conditioning and body colored bumpers, which will be available in the deluxe and luxury variants. The luxury variant will have airbags, fog lamps, and leather seats.

Tata Motors has also unveiled the European version of the Tata Nano, the Tata Nano Europa, at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. The Tata Nano Europa is an upgraded version of the Tata Nano.

The Tata Nano Europa will meet the strict emission and safety standards, and will be available in select international markets by 2011.

Reports say that Tata Motors will also launch the diesel version of the Tata Nano in  mid-2009.

The Tata Nano was first unveiled at the 9th Auto show at Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi.

    driving. It is J.R.D TATA who fly first in india’s air space, it is now Ratan Tata to driving Indians crazy with this car on the road, down to earth.
