After the success of the Jaguar and Land Rover brands in Russia and China, Tata Motors is now looking at emulating it in India too.

The Indian automotive giant, which now owns the Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR) brands, is planning to set up a strong dealership network in India for the two acquired brands.

Top officials from Jaguar and Land Rover recently visited Tata Motors and held extensive discussion with the Tata Motors’ marketing department in this regard. The proposed new dealerships for JLR are expected to be revealed very soon.

Tata Motors has said that the Jaguar brand of cars is doing good business in the Indian scene as at the moment. The company hopes to push up presence and sales of Jaguar’s new models that hit the car mart very recently.

Meanwhile, the company is also looking at providing a prop to its other acquired model Land Rover to make it a permanent feature in areas relating to Defence. Tata Motors believes that it would be able to make Land Rover to be picked by the Indian Defence authorities as the Tatas are already become a favourite with the country’s defense industry.

Land Rover has been in India even prior to the country’s independence – but it has always been an exclusive brand. If the company’s plans materialize, India will get to see Land Rover commanding a a substantially larger percentage of the market through an aggressive strategy being lined up at the Tatas.

The two brands were acquired by Tata Motors for more than $2 billion. Tata Motors has said that the Jaguar Land Rover brands would explore the Indian market just as they did in Russia and China.
