Spy shots of a new variant of the Tata Indica Vista suggest that Tata Motors is set to launch a fourth version of the Tata Indica Vista, called the Tata Indica Ignis.

The Tata Indica Vista Ignis was  preceded by the Tata Indica Vista Aqua, Terra and Aura, in the Tata Indica Vista line-up.

What is the big deal with the Indica Vista Ignis? Safety. Finally. Whew.

Tata, like many other car manufacturers in India, do not offer safety features like airbags, ABS etc in many of their basic cars. Tata is not alone though – even car-makers who should know better are guilty of this. But what is worse is that sometimes, these basic safety features are absent even in the top end model. Well, the Indica Vista Ignis will be the new top end of the Vista range, and it is going to get all that.

Safety features have been upped in the Indica Vista Ignis. The Ignis will come with ABS + EBD and Dual front Air Bags. So not just a driver-side airbag there. Thank yew very much. The passenger can now be safe too. ABS and Electronic Brake Distribution are nice to have, too. Those who have avoided the Vista so far due to its inadequate safety can now consider buying an Ignis.

The car is driven by a 1.4 Litre Saffire engine, which is also the same engine that is used to pwer the new Fiat Grande Punto, delivering 95 PS. It is considered to be a good option because the current 1.2 liter engine, that delivers 65 PS, is said to be underpowered for a car of this size.

Apart from the engine, the interior of the car also undergoes some considerable tweaking. An audio system with Bluetooth and USB interface, call answer and reject buttons, new steering wheel with steering mounted audio controls and electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors.

The Tata Indica Vista Ignis also features a keyless entry feature. The car also sports chunky 175/65 R14 Goodyear GT3 rubber.

The Tata Indica Vista Ignis is expected to be priced at Rs 4.5 – 5.0 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). There is no information available about when the car will be launched.
