Toyota has abandoned its plans of launching the Toyota Prius in India, for the time being.

Automotive major Toyota Motor Corporation will pump in an amount close to Rs 3,200 crore in building a new plant in India. The aim is to meet the broad needs of customers in India, where the car market is growing at a rapid pace, said the company.

Auto company Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched its educational programme, christened the ‘No to Counterfeit’ campaign across the country.

Toyota’s answer to the Tata Nano will come in the form of a $5000 car (Rs 2 lakh). That is twice the official price of the Tata Nano which is priced at $ 2500 (Rs 1 lakh).
