In the middle of all the noise about the Chevrolet Cruze, we missed this story.  It now seems that the electric version of the Chevrolet Spark which General Motors is planning to launch in association with the Reva electric car company, will be named the Chevrolet Spark Electra.

Tata Motors, Ford India, Honda Siel Cars India, and General Motors India have posted a rise in their sales in September 2009.

Two popular General Motors India models have bagged the top awards for quality for year 2008. The Chevrolet Spark and the Aveo U-VA have won the top awards for quality in the India Automotive Initial Quality Study announced by J.D Power Asia Pacific 2008.

Cash-strapped it may be, but General Motors Corp is said to have lined up big investment plans for India. The slowdown in the local market is not seen as a hindrance by the car major.

The 800 cc brigade is just waiting to get bigger with automotive majors such as General Motors India and Hyundai Motors all set to unveil their small cars in the country.

Even as General Motors continue its bad patch in the US,  it is said to have been lining up major plans for India. The company’s investment for the India market is already close to breaking the $1billion mark.
