We know we are a quite late with a test drive of the Fiat Linea.  Test drives of new cars are not what we have specialized in so far, but all that is going to change in the next few months as we go after driving impressions, road tests and comparisons with a vengeance. What is the point of having a road test months after the launch of  a car? Well, better late than never. Plus, tomorrow, we do not want an avid reader to ask us why a certain road test is missing from our archives. So here we go, on our first ever car road test.

It has just been announced that a 1.9 liter version of the popular Fiat Linea will be launched at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

It seems that the Fiat Linea sedan has been doing quite well in India. In the nine months since its launch, the Linea has sold around 10,000 units in the country.  Considering how badly the company has been doing prior to the launch, the high sales of the car is astounding indeed.

The Fiat Linea has been one of the rare successes in India from Fiat India - so much so that the car is believed to have turned around the fortunes of the embattled car company.

The Linea, from the Fiat stables, which had created an impression as soon as it got launched, has seen a huge amount of popularity in the Indian marketplace.

Finally Fiat Linea is here in India. We had written about the potential launch of the Fiat Linea and Grande Punto for the first time in 2006. Since then, we have heard a lot about the car. Suffice it to say the Linea is one of the most anticipated cars in recent times - but that does not mean there is a guarantee that the car would turn around Fiat India.

This is not new information, but thought we should confirm it for you just the same. Fiat will launch its Fiat Linea in India, in mid-December 2008. The C-segment sedan was expected to be launched in September 2008.
