In the wake of the excise duty cut, the market could see a steep cut in the prices of heavy motor trucks and other ferrying automobiles.

Bus giant Ashok Leyland has been chosen by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to help in its fleet modernization program. Chennai-based Ashok Leyland has bagged a DTC order worth Rs. 4.8 billion. Ashok Leyland plans to build the chassis and the body for the buses its Alwar Plant.

Bus manufacturer Ashok Leyland Ltd has decided to put on the back burner, for the time being, its joint venture with Japanese major Nissan Motor Company.

The Hindujas have indicated that they might enter into the passenger car business in India, and are open to investments in the sector.

Ashok Leyland is working on an all-new full range truck platform that will be unveiled by 2010.
