Skoda completes six years in India21 November, 2007 Skoda India, the wholly owned arm of Skoda Auto has just entered its seventh year in India. The car maker has also, in the meantime, earned the distinction of being the largest European carmaker in the country. The company has sold over 47,000 units since it began operations in 2001 and has a network of 50 dealerships across the country. The phenomenal success achieved by Skoda India is evident through the spate of auto awards the company has received in the past six years. These awards are seen as mementoes to Skoda India’s consistent high performance, elegant styling, and innovative technology. Skoda considers India as one among the world's booming auto markets. The investment made in this market has helped Skoda India to scale these heights. Skoda has invested heavily in its production capacity so that the assembly lines at Skoda India will roll out more than 40,000 units a year. Meanwhile, Skoda is gearing up for the launch of the Skoda Fabia. The Fabia will hit the Indian tarmac armed with the latest technologies and a competitive price tag. Skoda has said they owe a lot to the Indian government and to Aurangabad city for providing the car maker an opportunity to realize its goals in the Indian automobile market.
