Royal Enfield bikers have no reason to cheer this season with the parent company Eicher Motors, all set to jack up prices of the classic motorcycle models in India. The new prices are to come into effect from September 1. Eicher Motors, which had stayed on as a popular and loved company for its Royal Enfield models in the country since the 80s, has gone for the price hike due to a slew of pressure situations in the market. Eicher Motors, is a major player in the automotive sector and has been into the design, manufacture and marketing of commercial vehicles, the Royal Enfield motorcycles and automotive components It is also a provider of engineering solutions in the country.
According to the company, the rise in raw material costs is the most important aspect that as forced the price hike. Accordingly, it has been pointed out that it will hike the prices of its Standard 350, Machismo 350, and Machsmo 500 models up to 2 to 3 per cent on a country wide basis. However, other models will be kept out of the price hike.
Meanwhile, another bike giant, Hero Honda, has also announced a rise in prices of its models. Increasing inputs have led the company to up prices b y around Rs 1,500.
As per the new decision, the price of the Hero Honda Karizma will be now increased by Rs 1500, while other popular models such as Splendor, Passion, Hunk, and CBZ will see an increase in price between Rs 600 and Rs 850, said Hero Honda.
It has been pointed out that the company had to increase costs to partly pass on the increase in input costs to customers.
