Rolls Royce to bring new range to India in 2010

Rolls Royce, the luxury car maker, will unveil a new range of cars in India by 2010. The car maker said that it was in the process of building its new range hoping for a lunch ion mid 2010.

With car buyers growing in India, and the number of rich buyers burgeoning, the luxury car maker feels that it has a potentially expanding market in the country. With plans intact, the company is also expanding its current portfolio in the country and will launch a new model, Phantom Coupe, this year. The new model is expected to sport a price tag of over Rs 3.5 crore.

Meanwhile, apart from the Phantom Coupe, the company is now waorking on an added range of models which will allow the company to be a major player among many brands. The company has said that the new range will stay away from competing with the soon to be launched Phantom. Howevr, it has hinted that the new range will be the second most expensive models in the world.

The Indian car mart currently sees three Rolls-Royce models, namely Phantom, Phantom EWB and Phantom Drophead Coupe. These models are priced at Rs3.15 crore upwards. The our fourth car Coupe, which is in the Phantom family, will debut by November 2009. To be priced at over Rs 1.82 crore, the vehicle in India would attract an import duty of over 110 per cent.

Rolls-Royce sold 1,010 cars through 82 dealers across the world. The company, which reentered India in 2005, has since sold about 30 cars, including 12 units last year. The company had inaugurated its dealership in Mumbai, following it up with the Delhi outlet.
