Porsche AG, the German super sports car major, is looking at a right time to bring its Panamera to India. The Panamera, a four-door super sedan, is expected to be brought to the country by the German company by end of year 2009.

An impression of the Porsche Panamera from 2007
Porsche is said to be building the Panamera currently. Design and development is currently in progress. The Panamera is tipped to be the first four-door, four-seat sedan to go into production from Porsche. The car maker wants to position the Panamera in a suitable slot in India and is hoping that car enthusiasts would be lured by its unique combination of sports car performance and the comforts of a four-door sedan. We first wrote about the Porsche Panamera in 2007.
(Note: Position the Panamera in the Indian car market? At the very top, a bit to the left? Yea, it will be positioned very close to the two-door Porsche cars in India)
The car make currently sells its super luxury crossover sports utility vehicle called the Cayenne in India. With Panamera being planned, Porsche India is working to consolidate its position in the Indian market and is currently looking to expand its footprint by setting up new dealerships in at least four more cities within the next two quarters. The cities will include Chennai, Ludhiana, Bangalore and Hyderabad, it has said. The company already has two dealerships, in Delhi and Mumbai and is likely to take the number to 10 dealerships in the next two years.
Inda plans by the company had been on an aggressive mode of late with the company also announcing that it would be foraying into the pre-owned cars space soon. Despite the fact that the Indian automobile industry is growing at only 7 percent during the current financial year, the sales of luxury cars has been left unhampered. With the rich growing in India and banks lending large sums of money to such buyers, the luxury car mart has never had it so good.
Porsche’s pre-owned cars sales programme is expected to lure more potential customers who till now looked at Porsche cars little less affordable. The dealers will also chip in offers that would help in attracting more customers to the pre-owned Porsche showrooms. The cars will also be offered with company warranty.
