Porsche plans to open a dealership in Kolkata in 2010.
Currently, Porsche has two dealerships in India, in Mumbai and New Delhi.
Porsche is in talks with car dealers in Kolkata, and is evaluating dealership inquiries.
The company has said that the Kolkata dealers will be chosen based on their passion for automobiles and a good financial track record.
Once the process is over, Porsche will open its dealer outlet in Kolkata.
The car maker will be bringing in all the models currently available in India to its Kolkata dealership too.
After the launch of its Kolkata dealership, Porsche will look at identifying potential dealers who can sell the Porsche brand in cities such as Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Ludhiana.
The Kolkata dealership will display Porsche’s upcoming model, the Porsche Panamera, which will be available in the Indian market by October 2009.
Porsche will lift the wraps off its much awaited sedan, the Porsche Panamera, at the forthcoming Shanghai Motor Show, to be held between April 22 and 24, 2009.
Porsche is working on a simultaneous launch of the Porsche Panamera in India as well as international markets.
The Porsche Panamera will be available in three variants.
The entry-level Porsche Panamera S will come with a 4.8-litre V8 engine that will provide maximum output of 400 bhp (294 kW). The Panamera S will go to 100
km/h in 5.4 seconds, with a top speed o 283 km /h or 176 mph.
The company has said that the combined fuel consumption to the EU5 standard is 10.8 ltr/100 km and the CO2 emission rating is 253 g/km.
The Porsche Panamera 4S features a 4.8-litre V8 engine that gives 400 bhp (294 kW) maximum output.
It can accelerate up to 100 km/h comes in 5.0 seconds, with a top speed of 282 km/h or 175 mph. Fuel consumption of the Porsche Panamera 4S to the EU5 standard is 11.1 ltr/100 km, and CO2 emissions are 260 g/km.
The Porsche Panamera Turbo all-wheel-drive model comes with a 4.8-litre V8 biturbo providing maximum output of 500 bhp (368 kW). The Porsche Panamera Turbo accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, touching a top speed of 303 km/h or 188 mph.
Porsche has said that the company’s India plans for the Porsche Panamera launch signifies the expectations of the discerning Indian luxury car buyer on all factors
such as luxury, spottiness and performance.
Precision India, Porsche’s only importer in India, has said that the Porsche Panamera will be priced at Rs 1.4 crore onwards.
