Japanese automotive company Nissan will bring to India its new spruced up X-trail SUV. The company intends to bring the model to dealerships in India by the middle of 2009.
According to the company, the new improved Nissan X-trail will debut in India as a vehicle with added power and good looks. The new face lifted model is said to offer better-designed interiors and sharper styling on the head lamps. The new X-trail is a goodlooking and powerful people mover.
The new Nissan X-Trail will be 175mm longer compared with the original X-trail and would come with a 5 mm longer wheelbase. The tail gate will sport a new design with larger tail lamps giving a slightly boxy look to the overall design.
Inside, new features include a vertical console stack that has been provided with more space so as to accommodate a new stereo and GPS navigation unit.
As of now, there is no information on the power or fuel efficiency figures.
Despite being a large SUV by Indian standards, emissions would be well under control due to Nissan’s Emissions Reduction Technology. The car would boast of a 1600 bar common rail system, double swirl port, EGR cooler, diesel particulate filter and Lean NOx-trap catalysts. The Nissan Green Program 2010 mid-term environmental plan has made it possible for the company to develop and introduce new technologies, products and services that lead to reductions in CO2 emissions.These apart, Nissan claims much lower levels of noise and vibration.
