Maruti SX4 launched, priced below Rs 7 lakhEx-showroom prices of the SX-4 in Delhi will be between 6.18 and 6.89 lakhs.7 May, 2007 The big brother of the Suzuki Swift is finally here. After several months of anticipation, Indian car enthusiasts can feats their eyes on the new grown up sedan from Maruti, the SX4.
Pricing of the SX4 is sweet too. At between Rs 6.18 lakh and 6.89 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi, the car clearly targets the Ford Fiesta variants, the Honda City VTec and Hyundai Verna. All of which are priced in the same range or above. Does one go for the Honda City VTec which can cost quite a bomb compared to the SX4? Many enthusiasts would be having nightmares about that decision. First, let us treat this like a normal news story for a minute. "Suzuki is betting big on SX4. It has a major role to play in changing the company's image from leading small car manufacturer to a complete car maker," MUL Managing Director Jagdish Khattar said. Khattar said that the SX4 is being launched in India even before it is introduced in Japan and Europe. He also added that with 79 per cent localisation level, Maruti would have an advantage over its competitors, and feel confident that the SX4 will be able to tackle the market situation. There will be no exports of the SX4 for the time being by Maruti. "As per SMC's plans, India will be the hub of export for small and compact cars while Hungary will take care of the sedans," he said. Size, boot and ground clearance Maruti claims that the SX4 sedan is the tallest, widest and the longest car in its class. It comes with the widest tyres, and a boot space of 505 liters, and a high ground clearance of 190mm, the highest in A3 segment cars in India.
