The joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra and Kinetic is allset to roll out its revamped version of the Kinetic range of scooters. Mahindras had entered into a joint venture agreement with the Pune-based two-wheeler manufacturer some time ago.
According to official sources, the Kinetic Flyte 125 and Nova 135 scooters which have been revamped and co-branded as Mahindra-Kinetic will hit Kinetic dealerships by the end of January. The joint venture company in the meanwhile has decided to keep prices untouched. The new revamped models include the Flyte 125 and Nova 135, the company said.
Meanwhile, it has been pointed out that the joint venture might is do away with its Blaze, a powerful scooter, owing to the fact that as it hasn’t managed to make an impact in the bike mart in India. All the other models will continue to be rolled out by Kinetic scooters at its manufacturing at Pithampur near Indore in Madha Pradesh.
The joint venture is said to have given Mahindra and Mahindra an opportunity to lay its focus on entry-level mass-market two-wheelers. These apart, it might also build more two wheeler models aimed at the lifestyle segment . These could include high end bikes too, said a report.
Mahindras, in fact, has received a shot in the arm through the joint venture with respected Kinetic, believe industry observers. It has been said that the country’s most respected SUV maker is now looking at global alliances and acquisitions to augment and develop its two wheeler business. It believes that its truck with Kinetic will make this aim a reality.
According to company top brass, the automotive behemoth is even mulling over to give a go ahead to all possible agreements. This could mean that the company is open to technological partnerships as well as company acquisitions to provide a boost to its new found love for the two wheeler space. In accordance with such plans, the company might be having players in China, South East Asia and Europe in its acquisition agenda.
