Mahindra Ingenio MPV to launch this year-end?

Frankly, I do not want to write about the Ingenio again. But there is a bit of news, however, thin it might be – and it is that the Mahindra Ingenio MPV would be launched by the end of 2008. Now that we are already in October 2008, that leaves only two more months for the launch.

Of course, nothing really stops Mahindra from post-poning the launch into 2009.

The Economic Times reported that the new MPV would be produced from Mahindra’s Nashik plant in Maharashtra. It would be positioned against the successful Toyota Innova which has taken the taxi market by strom, and the Chevrolet Tavera. To a lesser extent, even the Tata Sumo can be target.

The name Ingenio is just the internal name, which was first reported by the media some two years back. The final production version of the MPV may or may not retain the name Ingenio.

The taxi and arge family market would be quite interested in the launch of the Ingenio for sure. This is where space, economy and good design all come together, and the Innova has set the bar pretty high in the MPV market. Whether the Mahindra Ingenio launch would seriously threaten the Innova, we would have to wait and see.
