Mahindra Ingenio has been talked about for more than two years now. Now the MUV has a proper name – the Mahindra XYLO.
Ingenio has been the internal name for the multi-purpose utility vehicle developed by Mahindra.
We had carried several stories on the XYLO so far. You can see one on the Ingenio launch here, and the latest one on the Ingenio here.
[ Here are our comments, pure guesswork, (of course!) on the Xylo's looks, engine and price ]
Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that the XYLO will be ready for launch this quarter. Considering that there are only two months remaining in this quarter, the launch should take place by November-end or December 2008.
Several pictures had leaked out of the Mahindra XYLO being tested. It looks like a Toyota Innova under its camouflage. No one has seen or photographed a XYLO properly, and we are waiting for a pic too. That the Mahindra XYLO would look like the Toyota Innova, its direct competitor, is natural considering the way Innova rules the large MUV market in India.
“XYLO has been developed by a team consisting of 160 experts who have created new benchmarks in styling, technology and performance,” said Mahindra Auto President Pawan Goenka.
We can expect the Mahindra XYLO to be priced a bit lower than comparable versions of the Toyota Innova. Power and interior space are expected to be as good or better than the Innova. the XYLO is Mahindra’s first foray into the multi purpose vehicle segment in India.
The Mahindra XYLO will be rolled out of the Nashik plant in Maharashtra. The initial production capacity would be 25,000 units, but depending on the demand for the XYLO, production capacity can be ramped up quickly, said Mahindra.
he Xylo will be rolled out of the Nashik plant and initial capacity for the Xylo will be 25000 vehicles

I liked the name Ingenio better. Mahindra should have stuck with that. though Xylo is not bad.

Mahindra makes good vehicles. Infact i picture the Mahindra pick up truck can be modified in a mean little monster truck. Xylo is a far more superior range.
