Kinetic Blaze, the originally-Italjet scooter, has been launched in India by Kinetic Motors. Kinetic Blaze is the first in a line of seven Italjet scooters that Kinetic will be launching in the country under the Italiano series. Kinetic Blaze has a four-valve engine generating 72 bhps of power.
Kinetic classifies the 165-cc swanky two wheeler as a moto-scooter. Kinetic believes that the extra power and audacious style of the Kinetic Blaze will help the company carve out a new niche in India. The moto-scooter is prized at approximately Rs 50,000 ex-showroom. Last year, Italjet had acquired the rights from Italjet to launch its two-wheeler range in India.
Kinetic Blaze offers several features like front telescopic shocks, twin rear shocks for extra stability, 12" tyres, protective front shield, comprehensive instrumentation, and split seat with large under seat storage space.
The original Italjet scooter was designed by renowned two wheeler designer Leopold Tartaini in Italy. For the Indian Kinetic Blaze, the company got the dies and moulds from abroad, but tweaked the structure slightly to take care of Indian road conditions.
The Kinetic Blaze has been launched now in Pune, Goa and Bangalore. Soon, it will be launched in other cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai too. Kinetic is expecting the Kinetic Blaze to bring in as much as Rs 180 crore revenues a year.
Kinetic is hoping to sell 35,000 to 40,000 of Kinetic Blaze till September 2006. The company also has plans to export the Blaze to foreign markets.
Though this model was introduced in Europe six years back under the brand name Millennium, Kinetic believes that the Blaze is modern enough for the Indian markets, which is complexly lacking in style when it comes to scooter design. Also, compared to low-power engines fitted in most Indian scooters, the 165-cc engine is expected to trigger some enthusiasm among buyers
Kinetic is also planning to spend up to about Rs 200 million for the promotional campaigns of Kinetic Italiano series. The company intends to launch several scooters and bikes from Italjet this year and next.
Kinetic Europa, the second in the series, is expected to be launched in July.
