Hyundai Mobis to set up base in India5 February, 2008 With India all set to be the Hyundai hub, leading South Korean auto parts company Hyundai Mobis is also setting up base in the country. Hyundai Mobis is an affiliate of Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group. According to a report, the company has bought 119,000-square-meter space in Chennai to provide high-quality products to Hyundai Motor India. The new base comes close on the heels of Hyundai Motor India's construction of its second factory in the Tamil Nadu capital suburb. It added that Hyundai Mobis, which has been producing core modules for the Hyundai models such as Getz and Verna, will now produce three core modules, namely driver's seat, chassis and front-end, at Hyundai Motor India's second production line for the i10 compact cars. Hyundai Mobis has said that its factory has the optimum conditions of location since it is next to Hyundai Motor's new production line. It looks forward to boosting efficiency through the reduction of logistics and swift provision of auto parts. Hyundai Mobis has also adopted quality management systems at its Indian factories to manufacture top-class modules and achieve zero-defect quality, said a report. Hyundai Mobis has a production capacity of auto parts for 600,000 cars a year at each of its two factories in India. In an effort to make its products reach local customers more easily and promptly, the auto parts company is also on road to expand logistics hubs in the country. Mobis has an international presence already with as many as 10 facilities in four countries other than Korea. While the China, India, Slovakia, and the United States facilities are up and running, it plans to add two more factories in the Czech Republic and the US. Hyundai Mobis expects to boost its efforts at home and abroad this year by making all attempts to be among the world's top 10 auto parts companies.
