HYUNDAI INDIA 1,500,000TH CAR |
Hyundai Motor India rolls out
fastest 1,500,000th car
11 September, 2007 Hyundai Motor
India Ltd rolled out the fastest
1,500,000th car in September 2007.
The celebration event comes nine years
since Hyundai started production in
India. According to the company,
Hyundai Motor India would continue to
bring the best and the latest in
automotive technology and design
backed by the best of warranty,
competitive pricing, and a huge sales
and service support network to its
customers in the country.
In the past nine years of operations
in the country, Hyundai rolled out its
first vehicle in September 1998. In
April 2000, Hyundai unveiled its
100,000th car. By December 2003,
Hyundai rolled out its 500,000th car,
becoming the first company in the
Indian automotive industry to touch
the 500,000-unit mark in record time.
Further, in March 2006, it lifted the
wraps off its 1,000,000th car. Now,
with the rolling out of the
1,500,000th car, Hyundai has achieved
this feat faster
and in the shortest time in the Indian
automotive industry.
The new record has spurred Hyundai
Motor India to expand its dealership
network from 167 dealers in the
beginning of 2007 to around 250
operational dealers spread across the
country by the end of 2007.
This apart, it also plans to set up
multiple dealerships with some of the
existing dealers opening their second
or third showrooms in different
metros.
Hyundai Motor India will also set up
its second plant, which will produce
an additional 3,00,000 units per
annum, raising its total production
capacity to
600,000 units per annum by end of
2007. The company will also pump in
huge amounts to expand capacity in
line with its positioning as Hyundai
Motor’s global export hub for compact
cars. |
