Honda to unveil Unicorn variants in India

Also plans a 150 motorcycle, and may be considering CBR1000RR and VFR1000 / 800

Limited edition models of the Honda Unicorn and another 150cc bike will be rolled out of the Honda stables for Indian roads. The company has also set its eyes on the super bikes market in the country . In this regard, the bike giant is studying the market potential in the country, it is said. The Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR is one of the superbikes that the Honda is considering for India.

According to the Japanese bike major, the new Honda Unicorn variants will come with new designer looks. Honda is expected to launch the Unicorn variants in India loaded with special body graphics and new features. Meanwhile, the company is also planning to launch yet another model in the 150cc segment.

Honda plans to position the new 150 cc vehicle as a rival to Yamaha’s popular FZ-16, which hit the Indian roads in 2008. The company already has a 150 cc vehicle christened CBF 150. The CBF 150 cc bike is the with Fuel Injection technology bike to be launched in India from Honda stables. It had also rolled out a few imported CBF 150 bikes at the Honda Motor Sports event in India last year. The company had
last year introduced a limited edition Unicorn and the Grand Prix edition.

It had earlier been reported that Honda would launch a new super bike in India by 2010. The bike that is to come is the new VFR1000, and will be powered by 5-cylinder unit with 3 cylinder facing the front and 2 cylinders at the rear end. The bike, significantly, will sport Honda’s new combined ABS system making its one of the safest bikes on road. Honda plans to unveil the bike as a replacement VFR800 and CBR1100XX in the international market.

Honda has already unveiled two new international models as CBU in 2009. The company is likely to introduce the bikes named CBR1000 and VR800 in India soon.
