It seems that the Fiat Linea sedan has been doing quite well in India. In the nine months since its launch, the Linea has sold around 10,000 units in the country. Considering how badly the company has been doing prior to the launch, the high sales of the car is astounding indeed.

Long-time readers of this website would remember that immediately after the launch of the Linea, it was obvious that the car was going to do extremely well in India. The car was considered extremely value for money by potential car buyers in India. The quality of the car was perceived to be extremely high, especially at its price. Its European looks went down extremely well, and the company rebounded back like it was never in trouble before.
Fiat’s initial entry into the Indian market, the Fiat Uno, became quite popular but the company was let down by labour problems at its manufacturing plant. The Fiat Palio which followed, while considered a great hatchback car, too never did set the sales charts on fire despite many variants and versions.
After the launch of the Linea in India, the company introduced a new hatchback car – the Fiat Punto – which also has received a good response response in the country. Fiat’s sales and service tie-up with Tata Motors too seems to have helped in raising customer confidence.
After the success of the Linea in India, it is believed that Fiat would be introducing a more powerful version of the sedan in India. Many believe that buying the car is extremely value for money and classy, it is seriously lacking in the horsepower department and a little bit more for would see the car battling it out with cars such as Honda City or Ford Fiesta.
