EKO EV 60 electric scooters for US

Yet another Indian electric scooter will make its way to the US with the United States Department of Transport according approval for its imports. Bangalore based electric scooter manufacturer EKO Vehicles  will export its new EV 60 to the US.

The company plans to sell 10,000 EV 60s annually in the American market, where vehicles that run on alternate fuel are the craze. The company is aiming at selling the vehicles to the food chains and smaller metros. In its bid to meet demand, EKO Vehicles has also set up a warehouse at Atlanta in the US. Following approval from the US Department of Transport, the company would begin exports in January. The EV60 will sell between US$1500 and US$1800.

The battery operated EKO EV60 is an economically priced L2 category scooter that can travel at 35 miles an hour. The two-seater is an electronic three speed control scooter with recharging time  extending to 6-8 hours if 80 per cent of the charge is discharged. The new EKO EV 60 comes with aluminum die cast front and rear wheels, telescopic hydraulic front and rear suspension, power off while charging. The EV60 scooter runs on five batteries and has a digital speedometer, odometer and battery state of  charge monitor. With vehicles of its genre reaching levels of technological excellence and being commercially viable, the EV 60 too is expected to have a sizeable market in the US.

EKO, which has done a good amount of experimentation, examination, research and experience in the field of developing alternate sources of transportation worldwide, has a slew of two wheelers that run on electric power. The EV 60 adds to that line up.
