General Motors is pulling out all stops to impress Indian car buyers. Along with a bunch of cars like the Camaro and the hybrid Chevy Volt, the company is also planning to display the Chevrolet Captiva Extreme at the Auto Expo 2010.
The star of the show, of course, will be the Chevrolet Beat small car which will be launched in petrol version and priced similar to the Hyundai i10 according to our sources.
The Chevrolet Captiva came to India at the 2008 Auto Expo, but has not had the success that Toyota’s recently launched Fortuner had against the Honda CR-V or the Ford Endeavour. Also read: Auto Expo 2010: New launches
The Chevrolet Captiva Extreme, though, will be a special preview. We do not think GM has any plans to introduce the Extreme in India. The car is on sale in Argentina – we could not verify if it is being sold in any other markets.
The Captive Extreme has the same 2.0 liter diesel engine of the standard Captiva, and the differences seem to be mostly in the looks department. New foglamps, and chrome inserts on roof handles and mirrors seem to be about it, apart from the auto box of the automatic Captiva.
The company will also be launching a CNG version of the Aveo at the Expo.
The top end Chevrolet Captiva LTZ is priced at Rs 1,917,563.00 in Delhi.

Who says the Captiva hasnt been successful? The fact is, the Honda CR-V ceased to be a force to be reconed with, ever since the Captiva was launched. With its superb 2L 150bhp engine, where is the question? The sales figures themself speak for it. It has been consistsantly selling over 2-300 vehicles per month
