Caparo T1 'super car', Rs 1.17 crore car will be produced in India by the end of this year. Lord Swraj Paul's Caparo Group has formed a subsidiary to manufacture the car in India. The Caparo T1 will be marketed in the expensive niche top-end market of auto buyers.
The 1000-bhp car will be a sports car, said Dr Paul, an NRI business tycoon. The Caparo T1 supercar car will sport a 2.4 litre V8 engine, named the Caparo V8. The Caparo T1 car will have 480 bhp at 10,500 rpm. The car will be aerodynamically shaped and designed like a race car. Rather than a mass production model, Caparo is intending to position the T1 supercar to show off the company's design and manufacturing muscle.
Caparo Group has recently bought out Ben Scott-Geddess and Graham Halstead, an automobile design firm which developed the iconic McLaren F1 car. Angad Paul, son of Swraj Paul will head the company which will make the car. The new company to be set up will offer technology development, engineering, and design help to automotive and aerospace markets.
