Technology business provider Infotech Enterprises has inked a seal with Bombardier Transportation to provide engineering, electronic design, technical publications and IT-related services to Bombardier Transportation divisions worldwide.
According to Bombardier sources, the contract builds on a relationship that started in 2003 and now Infotech supports all Bombardier divisions across multiple technologies and projects in a real-time engineering environment. The new contract would include projects such as the prestigious Delhi Metro Phase II for which Bombardier will soon start to supply trains. The original relationship was executed under the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) framework and the new contract does not have this clause.
According to Josef Doppelbauer, CTO and Vice President Project Management, Bombardier Transportation, “Together with our long operational manufacturing facility in Vadodara and the opening of a new rolling stock production facility at Savli to deliver the Delhi Metro project, the Bombardier-Infotech relationship will not only ensure the support of local Indian projects but also help design and deliver high quality new systems that could be utilized for our global needs.”

Bombardier Transportation has been present in India for over 35 years and has supplied Indian Railways with technologically advanced rail products, such as the WAP5 and WAG9 electric locomotives for passenger and freight applications and the Mumbai Traffic Management System.
In its efforts to ramp up its presence in India, the company has chosen Vadodara as the base for its propulsion systems manufacturing facility and software development centre for signalling and traction applications in India and for other Bombardier Transportation projects around the globe.
