Firefox Madone-5.2 bicycle for Rs 1.68 lakh

The 2008 Auto Expo will see a bicycle sporting a price tag of Rs 1.68 lakh!

The bicycle will be put on display by the Noida-based FireFox Bikes Ltd. The company plans to bring in its Madone-5.2 bicycle, priced at Rs 1.68 lakh at the expo, said a report. But then what is a bicycle doing at an auto expo? A report quoting FireFox top boss Shiv Inder Singh says that the company believes that the Auto Expo is a mobility exhibition. It will have e-bikes, cars, trucks...as the concept is mobility, why not bicycles?

A report added that the company's participation at the expo is mainly targeted at creating brand awareness and target up-market customer's who would like to take bicycles on holidays in hill stations. The bicycle is aimed at customers who are interested in spending their holidays on hill stations like Shimla and Manali and those who travel short distances on bicycles. The bicycle would be available only on orders, the company has pointed out.

Sourced from FireFox' US-based partner Trek, the Madone-5.2 bicycle is not a mountaineering bike, but a road bike. It is in fact a ultra light weight speed bike.

The company expects to push up sales to 60,000 bikes a year by 2011. FireFox Bikes Ltd, in the meanwhile, has also launched its Fuel Ex 8 bicycle. This model comes for a price of Rs 1,06,000.
