2009 Honda Accord V6 set for India launch

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd (HSCI), plans to launch the 2009 Honda Accord V6 in India in the luxury car segment in the last week of March 2009.

After the success of Honda Accord and Honda CR-V in 2008, the 2009 Honda Accord 3.5L V6 is et to hit the Indian roads soon. The Honda Accord V6 is likely to be priced at Rs 20 lakhs, Rs 1.5 lakh more than Honda’s previously released 4-cylinder model.

The company aims to occupy the top spot in the luxury car segment as confirmed by HSCI president and CEO H Yamada, “This  year, our entire team is working towards attaining leadership in the premium segment. We have already become the number one player  in the D-segment, with the tremendous response received by both our D-segment offerings – Accord 2.4 L and CR-V – launched last year.”

He further added, “We are confident that the Honda Accord V6, which promises to set new standards in the segment by delivering an unmatched driving experience, will only strengthen our lead further.”

The 2009 Honda Accord V6 packs a 3000cc engine, a V6 cylinder, and SOHC VTEC engine that promises great power.

The Honda Accord V6 engine produces 271bhp and peak torque of 254Nm.

The V6 model also boasts of 17-inch wheels and thicker anti-roll bars to rein in all the extra power. However it is yet to be seen if the car will also feature the Variable Cylinder Management technology (VCM) which helps save on fuel. The Traction Control System forms a prominent part of the car and provides enhanced stability and safety.

The Honda Accord V6 will come with a five-speed automatic gearbox.

New features of the Honda Accord V6 include  Drive by Wire (Electronic Throttle Control) and Cruise Control that promises hassle-free driving. Honda Accord 3.5L V6 reportedly has the biggest and one of the most powerful engines on a front-wheel drive car.

Meanwhile, the new new Honda City is attracting customers across the country because of its fuel efficiency. Talking about the new Honda City, H Yamada said, “The new City is a revolutionary product at a great price. It was launched after conducting a detailed study of the needs of the Indian customer in the segment. The remarkable fuel-efficiency of the car has not only appealed to potential C-segment customers but has also attracted several B-segment customers, across the country.”
